DEREIK GREGORY
CANDIDATE FOR MUNICIPAL COUNCILLOR District 6
I live in your area and I Share your concerns
I was born and raised right here in District 6. Over the last 48 years, D.D.O. has been the backdrop to my entire life—it is where I went to school, played sports, volunteered, and chose to raise my own family. Now, I am running for councillor because I want to give back to the community that shaped me and protect the exceptional quality of life we value for the next generation.
Family Roots in the Community
Family is at the core of everything I do. My wife and I have been married for 23 years, and our two children are proud D.D.O. natives. We live in the immediate area, right across the street from my mother, who still lives in my childhood home. This lifelong connection keeps me firmly rooted in the daily life and needs of our community.
Strength in Diversity
Our household is proudly multi-cultural and interfaith. Raising our children with two distinct religions has blessed them with a rich foundation of shared values from both sides of our family. This personal background gives me a deep appreciation for the diverse, vibrant fabric of Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
9 Years of Service: Proud member of the D.D.O. Planning Advisory Committee (CCU).
Policy Review: Analyzed and submitted key recommendations to City Council regarding draft by-laws, including zoning, subdivisions, minor exemptions, and urban planning amendments.
Strategic Growth: Contributed actively to the development and updates of the D.D.O. Urban Planning Program to shape the future of our city.
A proven leader with a strong background in high-value contract management, legal alignment, complex negotiations, and technical operations
Deeply committed to giving back to the community that has supported my family for over 45 years:
COMMUNITY VALUE
Fiscal Accountability: 25+ years of experience managing multi-million dollar agreements and regulatory budgets to ensure city projects are run efficiently.
Bilingual Leadership: Full professional fluency in English and French, ensuring direct communication and accessible council services for all residents.

Bombardier (20 Years): Directed high-value sales accounts, contract management, and legal compliance for multi-million dollar global aircraft deliveries.
Project Management & Technical Foundations: Managed complex interior delivery programs and cross-functional teams building, installing and delivering Bombardier's flagship private jet.
VOLUNTEERING & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
D.D.O. Hockey & Soccer (15+ Years): Longtime coach and assistant coach dedicated to keeping local youth active, healthy, and engaged.
WIBCA Mentorship: Active contributor to the West Island Black Community Association, teaching robotics and preparing youth for STEM competitions.
Lakeview Residents Association : Decade-long Board member and former President, dedicated to neighborhood events and children's activities.

"As your councillor, I will be your advocate as well as your point of contact for all things municipal. I have an excellent working relationship with the city and I will work collaboratively with the council towards mutually agreeable outcomes for District #6 as well as all of the residents of D.D.O".
As we recover from the flooding events earlier this year, we must move quickly to support impacted residents. If elected, I will push for:
Map District 6 Flooding: Push to identify affected homes and classify the specific issues they faced (sewer backup, groundwater, or foundation infiltration).
Advocate for District 6: The city has identified over 50 projects to improve water management across D.D.O. As these projects are selected and funded, I will be the strong voice at the table ensuring District 6 remains a top priority.
With the rise in home robberies and car thefts, keeping our streets safe is paramount. I will focus on proactive security measures by:
Optimizing Patrols: Work closely with city councillors and local police to increase visibility and ensure public security is deployed on our streets during high-risk hours.
Neighborhood Watch: Boost public awareness campaigns on home protection and heavily promote engagement with local neighborhood watch initiatives.
Supporting Extended Absence Checks: Continue to fully support and promote the free visual property checks provided by the Dollard-des-Ormeaux Municipal Patrol while residents are away.Ville de Dollard-des-Ormeaux Municipal Patrol
Following the flooding at the community center, many seniors' clubs were forced to relocate, and some residents are leaving D.D.O. for activities in neighboring cities. Our seniors deserve better. I will work with council to:
Fast-Track Recovery: Push city council to get these vital clubs back up and running in our community as quickly as possible.
Adopt a "Long-Term" vision for Seniors programs: Advocate for a renewed seniors' programming that keeps our aging population active, healthy, and connected.
As we adapt to the rollout of the REM, we face major changes regarding transit access and parking. As someone who grew up in District 6, I understand these challenges firsthand. I will work to:
Protect Resident Interests: Actively participate in transit planning discussions to ensure District 6 concerns regarding public transport, feeder bus routes, and local parking are addressed for all residents.
While multi-story densification can bring benefits to D.D.O., it must never come at the expense of current residents. My approach will be focused:
Case-by-Case Review: Every proposed development must be evaluated individually, with an uncompromising focus on how it impacts your quality of life.
Defending Neighbors: If a project negatively impacts adjacent residents—whether through strained sewer infrastructure, increased traffic, or towering structures in your backyard—I will listen to your concerns and fight for you.
COMMITTED TO OUR COMMUNITY
Derek Gregory will support initiatives regarding:
Public Safety: Expanding and promoting neighborhood watch programs to keep our streets and homes secure.
Road Safety: Implementing measures to decrease speeding and working directly with local law enforcement to increase police presence.
Seniors' Support: Expanding seniors' grants, actively promoting the Abovas accompaniment service, and boosting awareness of the DDO RU OK checking program to ensure accessibility and care.
Youth & Recreation: Renovating local parks, introducing fine arts programming, and offering low-cost sports programs right in our parks to keep youth active and engaged.
Cultural Activities: Celebrating our diversity by continuing to grow and support Dollard-des-Ormeaux’s Multicultural Festival.
Accessible Municipal Services: Improving the process and access to information to apply for municipal permits.
Welcoming New Residents: Implementing a dedicated onboarding program to welcome and integrate new families into our vibrant community.
